Whack PR Flacks on the Web
Intriguing Web site of the week:
www.whackaflack.com, where the press or any other interested parties get to whack PR flacks with badly written press releases folded into paper airplanes as they pop up from behind cubicles.
The site was created by e-tractions, a Bedford, Mass., Web-based entertainment marketing firm.
The site allows the user to pick among 20 notable PR agencies, including Edelman, Ketchum Inc., Shandwick and Brodeur Porter Novelli. Users can pick different characters, such as Tina Bawper, described on the Web site as "the new kid, just hired from her internship," who "believes she will own the company someday soon," as well as reasons for the "whacking," such as arrogance, cluelessness, pushiness and rudeness.
